LRG Complete Demo!

LRG Complete Demo

Here is a demo of the LRG Complete template for Adobe Lightroom. Remember its still the beta version. Please leave a comment with any bug reports. I disabled to WYSIWYG text editor saving capability for this demo, so you wont be able to actually save the modified text. This feature will be enabled in the final release. To get to the WYSIWYG text editor go to the “about” page and type 11. The text editor should appear at the top. Hope you all like this template, its been a long time coming! Remember though, this is a demo of the beta version. Once i finish the documentation i will release the demo to everyone to test out. I’ll gather any bug reports, work to fix them asap, and then release a final version.

This looks like it is EXACTLY what I’m looking for. I’m going to give it a try and let you know if it works!

Thanks
Justin - http://www.1kphoto.com

I’m completely psyched about this!

Looks great!
Bug: when changing quantities from 1 to 2 using the up arrow, it skips to 3 instead. I can type the quantity of 2 into the field and add to cart though.
Bug: The clear cart button did not do anything.

I have probably been the most impatient of all, but it was worth the wait, love the demo man GREAT work, not get it to me!! =)

Ok! You win! you did the best gallerie I’ve ever seen!!!!
The previous ones were amazing, this one is close to be perfect! I can’t wiat the release!! arrrrg

Bobby, i just fixed those bugs you found. thanks for the bug report!

Gerald,
Thank you!! You really dont get to see the coolness of this gallery until you get to configure it with all your own options. There are alot of cool features in it.

Everyone,
please keep any bug reports coming! i want to get any little bugs fixed asap so i cant get this template out to your guys

Nice!

A few buglets …

* The “back to site” link in the upper right points at http://www.lightromgalleries.com

* The “Add to Cart” button doesn’t “unpress” until you move the mouse off it after you click

* Some of the options on the Flash context menu (right click) should be disabled, for instance, “Rewind” leaves a progress bar in the upper left corner

* On the “About” screen, the image has a “click here” cursor but clicking does nothing

* If you move the mouse over “Open Menu”, the list of portfolios appears, click one to display it and “Open Menu” also reappears even though the menu is still there

It would be nice if while a picture is loading and the progress bar is progressing if the thumbnail from the portfolio page was displayed.

Again, nice work.

Is there an option to have other galleries besides the one in the demo..I was using the older Complete template but switched to something else because of the lack of gallery options…would love to see an Autoviewer option with this in addition to a place for some thumbnails! Thanks so much for your work!

Perry,
Thanks for the bug report!
*fixed the back to site url
*checking on the add cart button “unpress”
*disabled right click
*the image actually should click through, checking it out now
*fixed the “open menu” issue

Heatjohns,
No, you can not use any other templates with this template. its meant to be a full package and the galleries used in this template have specific code in them to make it work with the main index template. I hope at some point to make a similar template that can use the other templates.

Can you give us a discount code with different variables [value, percent] in order to test that out as well?

Testing completed in Flock, Firefox, Safari, and Camino. No issues related to those various browsers.

Bobby

this is amazing! it works great. the only “bug” (and it’s not really a bug of the template) is that when you hit the button to checkout, paypal opens in a new window and it was block at first by FF. (not blocked in IE).

i LOVE how you can keep the cart open and see things added as you go. it would be nice to have some sort of confirmation text when you hit “add to cart” that just says “added successfully” next to the button.

well done!

oh, did find a bug. when you have items in your cart, hit “local pickup” - the cart goes to zero. unclick “local” and it goes to undefined.

I (like everyone else) am really looking forward to playing with this gallery!

Some very minor bug-ettes;

On the shopping cart dialogue,

- If you select the ‘Select for local Pickup’ checkbox the Total goes to $0.00.

- If you then un-select the ‘Select for local Pickup’ checkbox the shipping and total prices go to ‘undefined’.

When editing text on the ‘About Page’

- The initial highlighting of fields being edited doesn’t match the text (the bottom of the bounding box doesn’t match the bottom to the text. Interestingly if I go to edit the ‘headline’ text (and add an extra row, then back to the bodytext, then the bounding box is correct.

- If I start to change the body or title text, but quit using ‘Exit without saving’ I would expect the text to revert to the original text… it doesn’t

Awesome I would liveto use this to replace my website. A flash application though, it probably won’t make this template very “searchable for content” by search engines like google. Guess I’m going to get into those Flash vs. Html problems. I have to starttrying to find a way to give an html alternate for the flash content…

Can anybody steer me the right way?

Great work! A few items for you to check on:

1. when items are in the cart a total shows. if you click the checkbox, pickup local it goes to zero. then if you unclick the checkbox, the totals are ‘undefined’.

2. (in firefox) when you press the add to cart button there is no response that you actually added something to your cart. You aren’t really sure if you pressed it. each additional press adds to the cart (i.e., select 2 prints, press add, press add, cart shows 4). Maybe a popup item added to cart? maybe a way to show items in the the cart next to the cart button up top? maybe change ‘add to cart’ text to ‘thanks!’ or ‘added sucessfully’ or something. I realize then people couldn’t change what they added, but if you always start with the ‘add to cart’ then they could open the image multiple times and add additional prints.

3. For large monitors, the ‘open menu’ on the middle of the screen is easy to miss. can you have a setting that allows the ‘open menu’ text to be centered or at the top? I would probably choose at the top near the about and other menus.

4. How many menu items across the top will you have?

5. Note that Matthew at the Turning Gate has a great contact screen in his Lightroom Pages template. I suggest something similar here.

6. I suggest a footer be allowed underneath the album arrows to allow for a copyright notice and some other links. I like to add another link to contact me and purchase in my footer.

7. I have a large screen, yet the vertical photos fill up more than my screen and I have to scroll to see that they are for sale. Can we customize the vertical shots to a smaller size?

8. Can we pick and choose certain photos in the gallery as not for sale (and have a custom message show in the large view, such as ‘not for sale’ or ’sold out’-for limited editions).

9. Customers aren’t always web savy. Can we add a message to the large image views that says ‘click to close’?

10. Are the font sizes customizable?

11. Can we set the menu to show permanently as well as fly in and out as an option??

Again, AWESOME. I’ve got some other ideas when you are ready to beta test.

David.

The “local pickup” bug has been fixed!

David,
1. this has been fixed

2. someone else mentioned this and i will add something giving verification you actually added to the cart.

3. you can position the “Open Menu” button at the top, center, or bottom as an option in the template. you can also change its wording to whatever you want.

4. you can have a max of 8 menu items at the top. if you need more let me know and i can add more.

5. will look at creating a good contact form to add.

6. good idea. will add something like this.

7. this has been a major issue. if the photos didnt have captions, paypal options, and stuff like that it would make scaling these images easier. im not sure of how to shrink the vertical image. Matt at theturningate does have a solution i think so i will contact him on that.

8. if you dont set a price or options for a photo then no paypal buttons appear. is that good enough or do you actually want to be able to put a message for a photo thats not for sale? you could also add that bit of text to the caption as a note.

9. Sure we can ad a close button

10. Yes you can pretty much change every font size?

11. yes this is currently an option.

I imagine that when someone like me (a wedding photographer) puts 500+ images in this gallery it will be a pain to navigate to a specific photo. How about a ‘jump to page’ box? Or an ‘add to favorites’ check box?

Is there going to be an option to allow the sidebar menu to stay expanded? It can be missed to those not computer savvy and I’d like to be able to make it as dummy-proof as possible.

an “add to favorites” is a good idea but will take a wile to create. i will try to implement something like that when time allows. There is already an option to “Pin Open” the menu which you will see as an option in Lightroom.

Hey Joe, nice work.

Comments (pardon me if they have been expressed by other users already):

1. Please make the usage of paypal/the shopping cart optional. If it cannot be disabled or made invisible, then those of us who would like to use it for portfolio/web publishing will be unable to do so.

2. Please allow for the use of custom background images/header bars, so that all of us who love your work will not have identical web sites. Even if we have to drop in our own custom HTML or jpegs into the gallery resources, it would be great.

3. A vertical pop-down menu would be fantastic. Many of the people I had test the site did not realize that the bar on the left expanded and thus only saw the gallery that loads by default. A way to order the categories & sub-categories would also be nice (out of alphabetical order). I would prefer to not have a default gallery at all because it indicated to the potential client, that it is this genre of photography that I specialize solely in. A custom background could alleviate it.

4. A contact page would complete the web site, one that allows for contact information as well as a blank form for visitors to fill out and hit ’send.’

Great work!

C.

Hi,

I’ve been following several Lightroom gallery options and this is by far my favorite. What I would stress is the options for possible navigation back to the original website or onto other non gallery pages, even a :window.close() option is not possible to implement with some of the galleries I’ve seen. I’m adept at moving around web pages but not yet the case with everyone.
Will there be an option for different currencies ? The Paypal is not something I would use at the moment but can see possibilities for its use in the future.

What do you mean ‘To get to the WYSIWYG text editor go to the “about” page and type 11′ couldn’t figure this out.

Well done (and thanks) for an excellent piece of work.

regards,

seoras

Christopher,

1. you can disable paypal for any gallery template.

2. i did a custom background image for a previous template and it did not seem to work out well. i cant try a different method this time. you can change all the colors and everything of this template so everyone’s site will/can have a different look. You dont have to use the template defaults.

3. are you talking about dropdown list for the custom menu at the top or the menu for the portfolio/gallery? i will look at different menu systems.

4. im working on a custom page

Hi,
I really love this gallery and have pretty much downloaded all the other galleries that you and The Turning Gate have provided. Thanks for the hard work!

The only thing that I would add to the other comments (I tried to read them all so I wouldn’t repeat):

1. I would suggest adding an “update cart” button. This would be useful for when using the coupon codes. Right now, in Firefox for mac I enter the code and am notable to see the savings until I am taken to the Paypal Page.

This might prove to be a good thing though, that is if people can enter in different codes trying to guess coupon codes that aren’t intended for them. The latter might be prevented by locking the coupon code option after a set number of failed attempts.

Everything else seems to work smoothly. I do agree with the comment about seeing some kind of confirmation when pressing the “add to cart” button in Firefox.

Thanks again for all your hard work. I am very excited to begin using this template.

Chase

Uhmm looks like you still have a lot of work with these comments ;-) Ok here my suggestion, a “download” button!
I mean, instead of shipping the pics by mail, it could be great to download the cart… I know I know… I’m pushing too hard maybe.

Hi - can you change the default currency from dollars to GB£?

Thanks

Oh and I forgot to say - very well done!

Unreal what an amazing template you have created. Now that’s what i’m talking about. You guys rock and then some…And what’s nice for me is that I know how to go in there and be able to set the default settings to what I need it to be. I know a bit of code so for me this is FANTASTIC. I know this is not easy for everyone, but keep up the good work…

Wow- I’m pretty sure that once you are done with all our wants and needs this template will also make coffee and serve breakfast! This looks better than anything I’ve seen and it is so so needed in my business! I can’t wait to implement it! Thanks!

Just waiting for the demo release, have a shoot this weekend and would love to put it up with the new gallery.

Thanks in advance,
Chris

Nice for a beta but it seems a little basic for features/design…

Does it work also well for portrait pictures?

Can we embed mp3 player? Use custom templates?

Is there a slideshow option that can be turned on/off ?

Little vignettes (previews) at the bottom for past & next pictures would be great also…

+ Download of a full picture enabled or not…

Thank you.

John,
As a beta this template does not have some of the features you mention. Once we get this template out of beta and into a full release we will start adding features and options. I dont really know if i will add an MP3 playing in as nobody has really showed interest in that. if you would like one in there for your template let me know and i can throw one in for you. I will be adding a slideshow option for sure. The “previews” is a good idea, people also mentioned adding a thumbnail strip as well. I can add a download option as well, i’ll do that for the next beta release or update.

thanks!
joe
