LRG User Comments v1.0
No database is required, but you do need PHP running on your server to use this template. Also, in order for the comments to work you need to change permissions of all the XML files in the content folder to 777.

Seems fine on IE, i’ll check on FireFox again though. Which one is not working correctly, the top link or bottom link?
PC - XP SP2. IE7 on the same machine is fine - I had wondered if my security settings were impacting, but no, they don’t seem to be.
Firefox is 2.0.0.3. I have the same problem on your samples as I have on my own, so maybe
Clicking on/hovering over the Back to thumbnails gives this in Firefox:
http://www.lightroomgalleries.com/gallerysamples/UserComments/imageviewer.php?img=MG0556
but with IE, it gives this
http://www.lightroomgalleries.com/gallerysamples/UserComments/
Hope I’m not wasting your time - apologies in advance if it’s my system!
The code uses http[referer] which should get the last page the user came from, but i have been reading that this is very unreliable and should not be trusted. Yes, you are correct in that it is a security issue. I have read that programs like Norton and stuff block http[referer] information from being sent and gathered.
I have tested on PC and MAC on both IE and FF and it seems to be working fine for me. It may be some security setting you have set on your machine.
I can’t find any alternative/fix for this, but i’ll look into it a bit more and see if i can come up with a workaround.
I initially made the back to thumbnails link work using javascript’s history.go -1, but after someone submitted a comment it would not work.
I’ll keep you posted
This template is looking very promising! I’m keen to replace my current galleries with it. However, I’ve got one issue. My existing galleries store the large jpegs under [galleryname]/content/bin/images/large/*.jpg, however your template puts them in [galleryname]/bin/images/large/*.jpg This is a problem because I already have links established directly to the jpegs and would rather not have them all fall over.
Is this something I can easily tweak?
Just FYI I’m currently testing your template here: http://www.colourandlight.co.nz/galleries/test/
sorry, i’m a noob at this.. but how do you change the permissions to 777 in all the xml files in the contents folder?
I open the file in notepad and here’s what I get.
I’m sure i’m missing something. PLease help. thanks.
Here it is again.. all the have been changed to **
*comments*
*imagedata*
*imageinfo filename=”DSC_0001″ caption=”1 / 5″/*
*/imagedata*
*/comments*
You change permissions with your FTP program. Search for CHMOD in your FTP program. Usually you can right click on the file/folder and a CHMOD options should be there. Just choose 777

I’d like to change the first †Back to thumbnail†in the image viewer by a †Next or Previus †bouton.

I can’t make the comment part work, I am using filezilla as FTP-program. And when do you expect an update on this gallery?

Like it - but is it just me, “Back to thumbnails” doesn’t work under Firefox, though it does under IE?
